Recently, the Jinchang 2×1,000 MW Flexible Coal-Fired Power Project supporting the Hexi New Energy Project in the Tengger Desert Base has continued to progress, with relevant systems and equipment gradually entering the installation and commissioning stage. Shanghai Hysunny Hi-Tech Materials Co., Ltd. (“Shanghai Hysunny”), as an equipment supplier for the project's water island system, has completed the full supply and delivery of the clarification treatment system and associated equipment.
The system is primarily designed for the lime treatment of reclaimed municipal water, and consists of two automatic sludge-removal mechanical accelerated clarifiers, each with a capacity of 320 m³/h. The clarifiers adopt a steel structure for indoor installation and are designed based on the lime clarification process. During operation, reclaimed municipal water is dosed and introduced into the mixing and reaction zone, where a variable-frequency-speed-controlled agitator promotes thorough mixing and reaction between the water and chemicals, after which the water enters the clarification zone for solid-liquid separation, allowing suspended solids, colloids, and other impurities to gradually settle. The accumulated sludge is collected into the sludge chamber by an electric sludge scraper and then discharged through the automatic sludge removal system; sludge discharge can be operated continuously or intermittently according to operating conditions, with electric sludge discharge valves and corresponding control measures to ensure stable and smooth sludge removal. Following treatment, the system can maintain effluent suspended solids at ≤20 mg/L and pH within the range of 6.5–10.5, providing qualified feedwater conditions for downstream water treatment units. In addition, the system supports both local and remote operation, with remote monitoring of operating status, as well as mechanical and electrical overload protection and alarm functions, supporting the continuous and stable operation of the power plant's water treatment system.
Project Overview
The Huadian Jinchang 2×1,000 MW Flexible Coal-Fired Power Project is located in Hexibao Town, Yongchang County, Jinchang City, Gansu Province, and serves as a key supporting flexible power source for the “Long-Dian-Ru-Zhe” (“Electricity from Gansu to Zhejiang”) transmission corridor of the Hexi New Energy Project in the Tengger Desert Base. The project mainly consists of two 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical air-cooled coal-fired generating units, together with supporting environmental protection facilities such as desulfurization and denitrification systems. It has a designed annual power generation of 9 billion kWh and annual coal consumption of 3.843 million tonnes. Construction commenced in 2024, with commercial operation scheduled for 2026. As of May 2026, the auxiliary transformer had been successfully energized.
Located in a water-scarce region of Northwest China, the project primarily relies on reclaimed municipal water and other unconventional water resources for industrial water supply. As a core unit of the plant's chemical water treatment system, the water island system undertakes functions including raw water pretreatment, boiler make-up water preparation, and integrated plant-wide water management. The clarification treatment system supplied by Hysunny is integrated into the pretreatment section of the water island system, where it uses lime treatment and solid-liquid separation to provide stable and qualified raw water conditions for subsequent membrane treatment and demineralization processes.
As large-scale new energy bases continue to develop, greater coordination between flexible power sources and renewable energy, as well as the integrated management of energy production and efficient water utilization, will become increasingly important to regional energy infrastructure. Looking ahead, Hysunny will continue to focus on the power and energy sector, providing integrated solutions that combine intelligent equipment manufacturing with AI technologies for applications including chemical water treatment and power transmission and distribution, and supporting the stable operation of energy infrastructure and the efficient utilization of water resources through reliable equipment solutions.
