Recently, Unit 2 of the Xinjiang Changdong Power Generation Co., Ltd. 2×660 MW Ultra-Supercritical Unit Project successfully completed the initial commissioning of its chemical water production system. Shanghai Hysunny Hi-Tech Materials Co., Ltd. (“Shanghai Hysunny”), as the equipment supplier for the boiler make-up water treatment system, has completed the manufacturing and delivery of all equipment. During commissioning, the supplied equipment operated stably, providing reliable equipment support for the unit’s chemical water production system.
The boiler make-up water treatment system equipment supplied for this project covers core modules including chemical dosing units and cleaning units, serving major process stages such as ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and ion exchange. After raw water enters the system, it first undergoes filtration through the ultrafiltration system. During this process, the chemical dosing unit accurately injects acids, alkalis, disinfectants and other chemicals based on feedback signals from online instrumentation, effectively controlling the fouling tendency of the membrane system. Before ultrafiltration permeate enters the reverse osmosis system for desalination, the chemical dosing unit simultaneously and precisely doses reducing agents and antiscalants into the reverse osmosis system, with the dosing rate automatically adjusted according to online data to prevent scaling and oxidative damage to the membrane elements. The reverse osmosis permeate then undergoes further purification through the ion exchange system, ultimately producing desalinated water that meets boiler make-up water quality standards for continuous supply to the boiler and thermal systems. The cleaning unit is used for online chemical cleaning and restorative cleaning when the membrane system reaches the end of its operating cycle. Through the circulation of cleaning solutions with the support of electric heating equipment, membrane flux and desalination performance are restored. The complete system integrates chemical dosing pretreatment, water production, online monitoring, and periodic cleaning and maintenance, with coordinated operation across each stage to ensure the long-term stable operation of the boiler make-up water treatment system.
Project Overview
The Xinjiang Changdong Power Generation 2×660 MW Ultra-Supercritical Unit Project is located in the national-level Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jilin Prefecture, Xinjiang, and is a key energy project under China’s Western Development strategy. The project is invested in and developed by Xinjiang Changdong Power Generation Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Qiya Group. It comprises two 660 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired generating units, with a total investment of RMB 5.6 billion. The project adopts China’s independently developed fourth-generation ultra-supercritical power generation technology, with a domestic equipment localization rate of over 98%. Upon commissioning, the project is expected to generate 7.26 billion kWh of electricity annually. Qiya Group is a large industrial group centered on the aluminum-based industry. It has established 800,000 tonnes per year of electrolytic aluminum production capacity in Zhundong, with cumulative investment exceeding RMB 35 billion, and has been listed among the “China Top 500 Enterprises” multiple times. As a key energy supporting project for Qiya Group’s aluminum- and silicon-based industrial chains, the project will primarily provide stable electricity supply for major industrial projects such as polysilicon and silicon metal in the Wucaiwan Industrial Park, and serves as one of the important power support points for “Xinjiang Electricity Transmission.”
Unit 1 of the Xinjiang Changdong Power Generation Project successfully completed a 168-hour full-load continuous trial operation in January 2026 and officially entered commercial operation. The chemical water production system for Unit 2 has also been successfully commissioned. As the core unit of the plant’s chemical water production system, the boiler make-up water treatment system is responsible for providing qualified make-up water to the boiler and plays a direct role in supporting the safe and stable operation of the generating units.
Following the commissioning of the Xinjiang Changdong Power Generation Project, it will further strengthen the power support capacity of the Zhundong coal-fired power base, provide stable electricity supply for the development of energy-intensive industries in the region, and promote the local conversion and utilization of coal resources. Looking ahead, Shanghai Hysunny will continue to focus on the power and energy sector, providing integrated solutions that combine intelligent equipment manufacturing with AI technologies for applications including chemical water treatment and power transmission and distribution, supporting the development of a complete closed loop from equipment supply to operation and maintenance for water treatment systems in energy projects.
